Sage was inspired by Kaa, the giant snake in The Jungle Book stories written by Rudyard Kipling. Sage has a long tail leading up to the main head which is knitted in stocking stitch and decreases to shape the crown.  The features are knitted separately, sewn together then attached to the head. His bulbous eyes are made by knitting a dome first which creates his fantastic 3d features especially when accompanied by his sticking out tongue. Sage's inner lining is in a contrasting colour to give the effect of the underside of a snake.

What We're Reading

The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child by Julia Donaldson

I have lost count of the number of times I have acted out these books for my daughter. Just be careful Sage doesn’t get scrambled.

The Greedy Python by Eric Carl and Richard Buckley

This is a funny little book with typical Eric Carle style, let Sage help you gobble up all the animals from the jungle.

Anna and Otis by Maisie Paradise Sherring

Anna wants to go into town with Otis the snake but he is worried people won’t like him. Anna knows that he is a great snake and people just need to get to know him to see it too.

Verdi by Janell Cannon

Sage will help Verdi’s jungle world come to life but will he grow green like the other snakes or will he poke an eye out first. Don’t miss the fun snake facts at the back.
