Patterns
Imagine a Hat provides knitting patterns to capture the imagination of the whole family. Our designs may look complicated but any beginner knitter can create these masterpieces. If you can do a knit and a purl stitch then you can Imagine a Hat.
Our patterns are big, bold and designed to bring an element of fun to your favourite books. They are one size fits all. Adults can wear them at storytime and children can use them to recreate their favourite scenes.
So pick an animal hat, a monster hat or maybe even a dinosaur hat…we are sure that once you start you will soon be knitting chronicles of creations.
Handmade Hats
All our hats are hand-knitted by Imagine a Hat’s designer and creator, Natasha.
Made at home in Bristol, UK each unique hat is made with love and always finished with an authentic Imagine a Hat tag.
If you can’t find the hat you want on this page please contact Imagine a Hat and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Hints & Tips
Our Hints & Tips page contains everything you need for completing your Imagine Friend and much more.
It explains the basics of knitting, the equipment you need to get started and is full of tips I wish I had to hand when I was learning to knit.
If you need any help with how to complete a stitch or just want to jog your memory visit Imagine a Hat’s YouTube Channel. You will find plenty of short tutorial videos showing how to do all the stitches and techniques found in our patterns.

Our Imagine Friends inspire children to read and act out favourite stories. They can be found with their noses in
books, relaxing in the library, playing in the garden and exploring the great outdoors.

There is nothing better than watching a child’s face whilst they are being read to, expanding their imagination and opening their eyes to worlds beyond their reach. At Imagine a Hat we are big bookworms and our hats are designed to add a 3D companion to your storytelling.
Each of our patterns comes with a What We’re Reading section, discover new adventures and stories to take your Imagine friend on and introduce them to your family. We will make suggestions for books to be paired with your Imagine friends.
About Me
” Hi, I’m Natasha, I live in Bristol with my husband, two daughters and two dogs. I love long family walks and exploring the countryside, I also enjoy anything crafty and am lucky to have a bit of an artistic flair.
I love to read, it is my escape and my “me” time. I have loved it for as long as I can remember and I want to pass this passion on to my children. A few years ago I started practising wellbeing and mindfulness and after reading about the health benefits of knitting it became one of my mindfulness tools. I wove these two hobbies together and Imagine a Hat was created.
I have gone a bit hat crazy, and my poor family can’t move without bumping into an Imagine Friend but I have had fun coming up with my patterns and making Imagine a Hat a reality “
