Hansel is one handsome Highland Cow. The main head has instructions for working both flat or in-the-round. We begin Hansel using stocking stitch to start the ear flaps and work up. When decreasing to shape the crown we use the loop stitch to create Hansel's long hair.  The features are knitted separately, sewn together then attached to the head. The snout is stuffed with toy stuffing which together with Hansel's floppy ears creates a fantastic 3D effect.  Hansel is finished with his bold pointy horns.

If you need help with the loop stitch we have a handy "how to" video here!

What We're Reading

Hamish the Highland Cow by Natalie Russell

Hamish has let his hair get a little long, messy and sticky. All the other animals have had enough so they send him to the hairdressers. A great little book if your little one is nervous about getting their hair cut, just don’t forget the toffees.

Hungry Hettie by Jo Allen & Polly Lawson

Hettie is always hungry, she even eats the washing but when her friends feed her treats she shouldn’t eat by the end of the week Hettie is not hungry anymore and can’t wait for some grass.

Hello Scottish Animals by Kate Mc Lelland

As well as Highland Cows this lovely illustrated book will introduce you to some of the fascinating animals to be found in Scotland.
