As a child, The Giraffe and the Pelley and Me was my younger brothers favourite Roald Dahl book and why I was inspired to make Goldie. The main head is knitted in stocking stitch starting with ear flaps and decreasing to shape the crown. I have used the stranded knitting method to work the two contrasting colours. The features are knitted separately, sewn together then attached to the head. The snout is stuffed with toy stuffing which together with Goldie’s large ears and brown eyes gives a realistic effect. Goldie is finished with her two ossicones on top of her head.
