Inspired by Mary Shelly's Frankenstein, Frankenstein's Monster is big, bulky but a very cuddly monster! Working in stocking stitch the earflaps are knitted first, we work in intarsia to form the initial hairline working in stranded knitting for his zigzag fringe. Lastly, we decrease to square off the head.  The facial features are knitted separately, sewn together then attached to the head. His snout is stuffed with toy stuffing and his metallic bolts are sewn to the side of his neck which gives a fantastic 3d effect. Frank is finished off by stitching stitches across his face. The head is then stuffed before adding the inner lining giving the hat its oversized look.

What We're Reading

Little Miss Shelley Frankenstein by Jennifer Adams

Build your own Frankenstein learning and naming the body parts as you read together.

Frankenstein a Monstrous Parody by Rick Walton

This book is full of little monsters but Frankenstein is the ugliest, scariest and hungriest. Just make sure he is firmly upon your head so you don’t lose it.

Crankenstein by Samantha Berger

Do you know a little Crankenstein? This funny little story will be a familiar one to lots of Mummies and Daddies but I wonder if our little bookworms will see the irony.
