Inspired by my favourite melancholy donkey, A A Milne's Eeyore. The main head has instructions for working both flat or in-the-round. Knitted in stocking stitch starting with ear flaps and decreasing to shape the crown.  The features are knitted separately, sewn together then attached to the head. The muzzle is stuffed with toy stuffing which together with long ears gives a fantastic 3d effect. Darcy’s has jet black eyes and mane and is finished off with a buttoned on tail.

Difficulty Rating

Intermediate

The basics have been mastered and ready for something a bit more intricate, this pattern uses colourwork in intarsia and/or stranded knitting.  This pattern will use advanced shaping and may introduce lacework

What We're Reading

Winnie the Pooh by A A Milne

Darcy would make the most excellent Eeyore. Join Pooh and Piglet reading about their adventures in the 100 Aker Woods. Darcy’s tail even unbuttons for those unfortunate times when Eeyore loses his.

Wonkey Donkey by Craig Smith

Take a walk down the road with Darcy to see if you can spot a winky wonky donkey, this gem of a book will have you braying with laughter.

Sylvester and the Magic Pebble by William Steig

Sylvester the donkey has found a magic wish making pebble, but think carefully before you make any wishes. Check out our patterns for Lyric the Lion or Devin the Dog to help tell the story.
